CABUK HELPING TAKE GOATS TO THE AUCTION AT FOUR MONTHS
-1.1- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 23, 2022 with my friend Dan A part of good training is teaching your pup to feel comfortable traveling so I look for reasons to take my young pups in the vehicle. This helps make trips to the vet easier! Anatolians tend to be apprehensive traveling, so I always crank up the AC for the trip. I had a load of goats to take to the auction so I included CABUK on this trip. This picture was taken after we'd unloaded the goats and I'd just purchased fudge from a shop near the auction! Always stop frequently enough for the pup to realize they are not stuck in the vehicle forever. It's important that the trips are fun, not only for CABUK but also for Dan and I!
CABUK PATIENTLY WAITING AT THE FENCELINE AT FOUR MONTHS OLD
-1.1- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 17, 2022 I teach my pups to be comfortable switching pastures and goats. Here's how I do it! As I do the chores, CABUK follows me from pasture to pasture throughout the day, I occasionally leave her in a pasture for a few hours while I go inside. (Yes, I now trust CABUK that much!) I ONLY LEAVE CABUK IN A PASTURE WITH GOATS, ALWAYS GOATS, because well-bred Anatolians feel comfortable with goats! Every night I place CABUK in the same pasture with the same goats and Anatolians - her main pasture. CABUK is pictured here in an alternate pasture with different goats and different Anatolians. (You can see we are in a drought!) After a few hours, I go back outside, tell CABUK "Let's go!" and continue doing chores with her. Switching pastures, goats, and Anatolians from early puppyhood makes most Anatolians comfortable if goats and pastures have to be switched around!
CABUK AT FOUR MONTHS WATCHING TWO FIVE MONTH OLD GOATS EATING
-1.1- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 17, 2022 After I put out feed for two young goats, CABUK trots back to check out their food. On her way. she looks through the fence to make certain my neighbor's dogs are nowhere near. Her movement is beautiful, isn't it?
-1.2- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 17, 2022 Reaching the goats, CABUK carefully looks in to see what the goats are eating. CABUK moves slowly and cautiously because she doesn't want to scare the goats. |
-1.3- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 17, 2022 CABUK moves a bit closer to see inside the feeder. CABUK continues to move carefully so the goats remain comfortable. |
-1.4- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 17, 2022 CABUK decides to just sit down and watch. CABUK, for some reason, is fascinated just watching the goats eat! |
-1.5- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 17, 2022 CABUK watches until the goats finish all their grain. After the goats leave the feeder, CABUK gets up and moves about her business! |
CABUK AT FOUR MONTHS DEMONSTRATING HER AFFECTION TOWARD GOATS
-1.1- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 16, 2022 CABUK was sitting companionably with her goats. As a goat leaned toward CABUK with interest, CABUK impulsively reached over and air-licked the goat's nose (CABUK's tongue very lightly touched the goat's nose with affection)! Affection for goats is a highly desirable trait in a Working Anatolian! |
-1.2- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 16, 2022 After the "air lick," CABUK takes a short break for a drink |
CABUK AT FOUR MONTHS SHOWING AN INCREASED, YET APPROPRIATE, ACTIVITY LEVEL WITH VARIOUS ADULT LUCKY HIT ANATOLIANS CABUK ALSO DEMONSTRATES HER BEHAVIOR WITH GOATS CONTINUES TO BE EXCELLENT
-1.1- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 After a cool night, CABUK is feeling highly energetic. As she does every day, CABUK goes with me from pasture to pasture. We enter BEHIYE's pasture. CABUK particularly loves playing with her powerful grandmother, LUCKY HIT Leydi BEHIYE (BEHIYE) (shown above). For a couple of minutes, BEHIYE and CABUK play with speed and intensity. BEHIYE teaches CABUK some life-saving fighting techniques! |
-1.2- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 After the short period of intense play fighting, LUCKY HIT Leydi BEHIYE (BEHIYE) abruptly jumps up and stands still, signaling the play fight is over. |
-1.3- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 The moment LUCKY HIT Leydi BEHIYE (BEHIYE) signals that play is over, CABUK stops playing and sits quietly beside her grandmother. I couldn't ask for better behavior in a four month old pup! Pretty good behavior from BEHIYE also!
-2.1- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 Soon CABUK and I move into the adult female goat pasture. CABUK sees her good friend, Timmaru DIKKAT of LUCKY HIT. CABUK and DIKKAT love playing together. DIKKAT is a year and a half old puppy living with goats 24/7. DIKKAT's careful play with CABUK demonstrates her excellent nurturing temperament. I evaluate nurturing ability by allowing my young adult Anatolians to play with pups! |
-2.2- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 Being young, DIKKAT hasn't learned how to signal CABUK that the play is over. DIKKAT tries moving to the haybale to show CABUK they should rest now. Not realizing play is over, CABUK keeps playing with DIKKAT for a couple more minutes! DIKKAT displays excellent nurturing ability through her patient, uncomplaining attitude! |
-2.3- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 After a couple of minutes of playing on top of DIKKAT while DIKKAT lays quietly, CABUK gives up and amicably lay down beside DIKKAT for a little bonding time. I couldn't ask for better behavior in a four month old pup! And DIKKAT'S behavior is excellent as well!
-3.1- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 After playing with Timaru DIKKAT of LUCKY HIT , CABUK moves around the goats to get in the shade. Rather than take the direct route to the shade, CABUK circles around the goats. CABUK knows the correct speed and distance for the goats to be comfortable. |
-3.2- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 One of the goats is heading for the shade also, so CABUK slows to a walk. CABUK wants all the goats around her to stay calm. |
-3.3- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 CABUK reaches the shade and sits on the other side of a young goat. CABUK watches the other goats and scans for predators outside the pasture. CABUK loves being watchful and protective. |
-3.4- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 CABUK jumped up to see what the barking was in the other pasture. CABUK is pictured here trotting back to the shade. |
-4.1- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 CABUK and I move to the five month old kid pasture. CABUK loves to play with LUCKY HIT Sonra GENIS (GENIS) of Cedar Rise. GENIS mostly lays down quietly while CABUK runs around trying to get GENIS to play. Although CABUK plays fast and furiously with other Anatolans, she makes no attempt to play with any goats in this fashion!!! b> |
-4.2- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 CABUK runs around GENIS furiously for only a couple of minutes. GENIS just watches CABUK with calm interest. |
-4.3- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 14, 2022 GENIS gets up and moves on about his business, declining this time to play with CABUK. CABUK follows GENIS just in case he is going to do something interesting. As Anatolian pups reach four months, it is vital they have superior working ability when placed with livestock. Superior working responses also help a young Anatolian pup living in a home companion guardian situation.

Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 9, 2022, watching for predators across the pasture. I take CABUK in every pasture with every animal as I do the chores each day. You can see I do not feel the need to keep a lead on CABUK. I am present to provide an immediate correction, if necessary. To my amazement, with CABUK there have been few occasions to chastize. Mostly CABUK required praise for her excellent decisions! While CABUK has plenty of energy and plays with enthusiam with other Anatolians, I have never seen CABUK play with her goats, geese, indian runners, or llamas. With her animals, CABUK is polite and respectful! WARNING!!! Some puppies who are energetic want to engage in play with their charges! Don't let that happen, ever!!! For any reason!!! NEVER place an untrustworthy puppy unsupervised with your animals!!!
LUCKY HIT LEYDI BEHIYE (BEHIYE) (On October 4, 2022 CABUK got her first Rabies shot - Weighed 44 lbs.) ALSO, CABUK'S MICROCHIP WAS IMPLANTED - 956000008919282.
Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on October 3, 2022, playing with her grandmother, LUCKY HIT LEYDI BEHIYE (BEHIYE), owned by Shawna Koval. The other Anatolian is also owned by Shawna Koval. She is CHAMPION LUCKY HIT DIVAKIZ ASHURE (ASH). As a part of every puppy's training, I try to expose each puppy to as many different experiences as possible. This exposure includes meeting as many adult Anatolians as I have available and I supervise these meeting to guide both the puppy and the adults. By meeting and learning how to deal with all the variable Anatolian personalities, I believe my puppies will develop into more stable and flexible adults. CABUK has learned a variety of techniques to get along with different adult Anatolian behaviors with the least amount of friction. Based on her excited play, her favorite adult Anatolian is her grandmother, BEHIYE, and the play lasts only a few minutes. I have never seen CABUK play like this with her goats, geese, indian runners, or llamas. WARNING!!! If you have an untrustworthy adult, NEVER place that untrustworthy dog with a puppy!!!

-1- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on September 29, 2022 CABUK is meeting my new male Nubian, CreamMaker, for the first time. Notice that CABUK moves confidently around CreamMaker but not directly toward him. CreamMaker's posture is telling her that he thinks she is moving too fast and might be a threat! |
-2- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on September 29, 2022 Seeing that CreamMaker is apprehensive, CABUK slows down. CABUK doesn't want him to see her as a threat! He becomes a bit more relaxed. |
-3- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on September 29, 2022 As CABUK moves closer, CreamMaker become agitated and tilts his head aggressively (not pictured!). CABUK immediately responds by dropping to the ground to further reassure CreamMaker all is OK. CABUK, on the ground, remains motionless until CreamMaker shows he's comfortable. As usual, CABUK has demonstrated a superior working response at a young age! |
-4- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on September 29, 2022 Once CreamMaker seems calm, CABUK moves further away to keep him calm. CABUK's calm, observant, and tolerant behaviors are only seen in working Anatolian's with excellent genetics! CABUK picks a spot where she can watch CreamMaker and where her back is protected. CABUK wisely chose a location where she can focus on CreamMaker, who she has identified as a bit unstable, and not have to worry about trouble that might "pop-up" from behind. Notice CABUK lying quietly, flat on the ground, by the round bale. |
-5- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on September 29, 2022 Now CreamMaker feels more secure and decides to cautiously but aggressively move toward CABUK CABUK feels he might become physical and butt her. CABUK wants him to accept her, so smoothly moves further away. |
-6- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on September 29, 2022 CABUK turns around to face him. CABUK stands calmly with level head hoping that might stop his aggression. CABUK hopes this position makes him becomes calmer. She wants him to realize she isn't a threat to him! CABUK is walking a tightrope of behavior with this goat! CABUK's ultimate goal is to teach CreamMaker that she isn't the threat he imagines her to be! |
-7- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on September 29, 2022 So far, nothing CABUK has done has worked for long. When CreamMaker becomes more aggressive again, CABUK decides to use the wisdom and experience of her friend, LUCKY HIT Leydi CASE (CASE JR) CABUK moves to CASE JR and then turns to calmly watch CreamMaker. CABUK chose wisely! This way she can avoid aggression to protect herself! |
-8- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on September 29, 2022 CASE JR turns around and CreamMaker moves away a bit. CASE JR stands calmly watching CreamMaker, who respects CASE JR'S size and calmness! This series of interactions demonstrates why all responsible breeders select superior working ability. Superior working ability can ONLY be discovered by maintaining Anatolians with livestock 24/7. TO MAINTAIN THE ESSENCE OF THE BREED, ALL RESPONSIBLE BREEDERS TEST FOR AND SELECT SUPERIOR WORKING ABILITY IN THEIR ANATOLIAN BREEDING SELECTIONS! |
-9- Elkhorn Ginger CABUK of LUCKY HIT on September 29, 2022 With CABUK aligned with CASE JR, CreamMaker decides to move on. Throughout this entire "ordeal," CABUK correctly maintained calm behavior and never stopped trying to get CreamMaker to accept her without becoming aggressive. Notice CABUK has positioned her head directly beneath CASE JR's head! |
