CHAMPION Duman of Arkadas was born
April 25th, 1980, in Turkey, where he was bred by Orhan Tipi.
He is the grandson of
Melemez Yigit of Yazurdu. Duman was located in Turkey by
Natalka Czartoryska and brought to the United States in 1980 by
Dr. Susan Goldhor for Quinn and Marilyn Harned. At the time
this picture was taken, Duman had spent 1 1/2 years at the New England
Farm Center with Dr. Ray Coppinger. Duman was part of the
New England Farm Center's Livestock Guarding Dog Project at Hampshire College
until he was brought to California in 1982 for breeding. Duman was sold to Maureen and Wally Austin, who lived just up the road from Quinn and Marilyn Harned. He began living in Alpine, California on the Austin's property as a working livestock guardian for their small herd of goats. Duman was approximately 31 inches tall and weighed 115+ pounds. Duman was BEST OPPOSITE SEX at the 1982 ASDCA National Specialty and BEST OF BREED at the 1984 ASDCA National Specialty. |
